Alpha Appoints David J. McLachlan to Board of Directors; Addition of Former Genzyme Corp. CFO Expands Alpha's Board to Eight
Mr. McLachlan, 62, is the former executive vice president and chief financial officer of Cambridge, Mass.-based Genzyme Corp., a post he held from 1989 to 1999. During his tenure, he was instrumental in assisting Genzyme in becoming a global, diversified, fully integrated health care products concern. Mr. McLachlan is currently a consultant to Genzyme's chairman and CEO.
Prior to joining Genzyme, Mr. McLachlan served as vice president, finance of Adams-Russell Company, an electronic component supplier and cable television franchise owner based in Waltham, Mass.

The addition of Mr. McLachlan expands Alpha's board to eight members, including five outside directors. Mr. McLachlan also serves on the Board of Directors of Aronex Pharmaceuticals, Inc., (NASDAQ:ARNX), a biotechnology company based in The Woodlands, Texas; Dyax, Corp. (NASDAQ:DYAX), a biotechnology company based in Cambridge; and West Palm Beach, Fla.-based Hearx, Ltd., (AMEX:EAR), a hearing care services company.
Mr. McLachlan, a resident of Chelmsford, Mass., earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Harvard College and his MBA from Harvard Business School.
