Skyworks Maintains Power Amplifier Module Market Leadership; Leading Research Firm Ranks Skyworks as the World's Number One PA Module Supplier in 2002WOBURN, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 6, 2003--Skyworks Solutions Inc. (Nasdaq:SWKS), the industry's leading wireless semiconductor company focused on radio frequency (RF) and complete cellular system solutions for mobile communications applications, today announced that Gartner Dataquest has named Skyworks the industry's number one power amplifier (PA) module supplier based on 2002 revenues. According to Gartner's June 2003 report "Wireless Communications Semiconductor Competitive Market Shares for 2002," Skyworks held one-third of the worldwide PA module market in 2002.

"It's clear that modules have become the power amplifier solution of choice for mobile terminals," said Klaus Buehring, Skyworks' vice president of Power Amplifier Products. "Skyworks is extremely proud to have earned the distinction of being the leading supplier of PA modules for the second year in a row and based on current design win activity we look forward to extending our lead in 2003."

Power amplifiers are a critical component in wireless handsets, determining the length of talk time and battery life available to support emerging data services, such as digital photography, Internet browsing, online shopping, video messaging and other interactive high-bandwidth applications. The company introduced its first highly integrated PA module in 1997 and has shipped more than 275 million units to date.

Skyworks has an extensive portfolio of solutions that encompass every major wireless standard including the world's smallest PA, a 3mm x 3mm CDMA module. The company manufactures its PA modules using an indium gallium phosphide (InGaP) heterojunction bipolar transistor (HBT) process that maintains high efficiency for longer handset talk and standby times, as well as excellent linearity to increase data rates.
