Skyworks' Front-End Module Powers Several of Motorola's GSM/GPRS Phones; Enabling a Wide Range of Next Generation Handset FeaturesWOBURN, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 26, 2004--Skyworks Solutions, Inc. (Nasdaq:SWKS), the industry's leading wireless semiconductor company focused on radio frequency (RF) and complete cellular system solutions, today announced that Motorola has selected the company's highly integrated RF front-end transmit module (FEM) for use in a number of its innovative, next generation handset models. Skyworks' unique module architecture enables Motorola to deliver a wide variety of features ranging from integrated camera, Bluetooth wireless connectivity and downloadable games to MP3 and polyphonic ring tones, built-in speakerphones, MMS, enhanced audio and predictive text capabilities.

Motorola is leveraging Skyworks' module across its V300, V400 and V600 camera phones, which are available now worldwide. The solution is also designed into Motorola's smallest and lightest camera phone to date, the C550 model, available in Europe and Asia. Each model offers cell phone users advanced integrated cameras and other popular communication features, ranging from streaming video to photo editing and zoom capabilities.

"Motorola is one of the world's premier cellular phone brands and Skyworks is proud to be extending our engagement by providing key enabling technology for their aggressive expansion into feature-rich platforms," said Liam K. Griffin, vice president of Sales and Marketing at Skyworks. "Further, we have also expanded our base business within iDEN and CDMA applications and look forward to continued strong growth in 2005."

Skyworks' compact front-end module combines the company's industry-leading HBT power amplifier technology, GaAs PHEMT power detectors, and transmit/receive switch functions into a single low-cost laminate-based multi-chip module (MCM). The quad-band GSM/GPRS device reduces transmitter bill-of-materials costs and component count while shrinking handset board space by more than 40 percent.
