Skyworks Ramps Low Power RF Solutions for Industrial, Scientific and Medical BandsLinear Products Business Captures Key Design Wins for Special Mobile Radio, RFID, Meter Reading and Industrial Control Applications

WOBURN, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 19, 2008--Skyworks Solutions, Inc. (NASDAQ: SWKS), an innovator of high performance analog and mixed signal semiconductors enabling mobile connectivity, today announced key design wins and production ramps for its growing line of power amplifiers (PAs), synthesizers, switches, and silicon voltage controlled oscillators (VCOs). These products uniquely enhance the performance of analog solutions that are available on the market today.

"Our Linear Products business continues to address new markets by providing highly integrated and innovative semiconductor solutions to solve real-world problems," said Stan Swearingen, Jr., vice president and general manager of Linear Products at Skyworks. "With our comprehensive RF solution set, Skyworks is setting the bar for performance and footprint, while at the same time reducing the need for extra components."

Skyworks' design wins in the industrial, scientific and medical (ISM) bands are supporting a host of applications ranging from professional special mobile radio (SMR), radio frequency identification (RFID), automatic meter reading (AMR), and industrial control.

With respect to AMR, according to The Scott Report on AMR Deployments, only 34 percent of the 300 million existing electric, gas and water meters in North America employ a wireless application, which significantly helps utility companies reduce meter-reading costs and increase revenue, load balance, and improve customer service. Outside of North America, just six percent of the 2.5 billion meters utilize AMR solutions. As a result, there is pent-up demand for an economical RF solution to more efficiently collect, report and monitor utility usage by both service providers and consumers.

About ISM

ISM radio bands were originally reserved internationally for the use of RF electromagnetic fields for industrial, scientific and medical purposes other than communications. In general, communications equipment must accept any interference generated by ISM equipment. In recent years, these bands have also been shared with communications applications.
