Skyworks Receives Data and Integration Mastery Award from Managing Automation Magazine; Company Recognized For Business and Technological Expertise In Manufacturing Process

WOBURN, Mass., Mar 16, 2005 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Skyworks Solutions, Inc. (NASDAQ:SWKS), a global leader in analog, mixed signal and digital semiconductors for mobile communications applications, today announced it has received Managing Automation's first-annual Progressive Manufacturing Award, which recognizes companies in seven categories of manufacturing excellence and innovation. Skyworks will receive its award for Data and Integration Mastery at the magazine's Progressive Manufacturing Summit and Awards Conference gala event being held on March 17 in New Orleans.

"Skyworks is extremely honored to be acknowledged by such an esteemed panel of industry manufacturing experts and alongside such a highly regarded peer group," said Louw Kotze, vice president of information technology at Skyworks. "This award exemplifies Skyworks' commitment to information technology solutions that achieve manufacturing excellence, improve customer and supplier intimacy and simplify operations, while increasing profitability."

In recognizing Skyworks, Managing Automation magazine's expert judging panel commended the company for solving critical integration challenges following its 2002 creation from the merger of Alpha Industries and Conexant Systems' wireless division. Skyworks successfully implemented an interim order-management "Simplification Initiative" within six weeks that improved customer support, which was followed by a complete standards-based enterprise resource planning (ERP) platform merger within 18 months, resulting in $1.2 million in savings. The judging panel noted that these accomplishments set the tone for a seamless merger, including both revenue growth and achieving profitability within the first year.

The Data and Integration Mastery award recognizes achievement in cross-functional systems/process integration between design, production and logistics/warehousing or other functions. The Progressive Manufacturing Summit and Awards Conference focuses on critical transformations that manufacturers must achieve to sustain a global competitive advantage.

Kristofor Williams, program manager of electronic commerce for Skyworks, will be an expert panelist for the "Integration Imperative: Breaking Down Functional Silos" session at the Progressive Manufacturing Summit taking place at the Ritz Carlton New Orleans on Thursday, March 17, 2005, at 4:30 p.m. CST.
