Skyworks Achieves Performance Breakthrough with New Line of Active Mixers; Broad Frequency Range Powers Infrastructure, Medical, Scientific and Industrial Applications

Skyworks Achieves Performance Breakthrough with New Line of Active Mixers; Broad Frequency Range Powers Infrastructure, Medical, Scientific and Industrial ApplicationsWOBURN, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 20, 2006--Skyworks Solutions, Inc. (NASDAQ:SWKS), an industry leader in radio solutions and precision analog semiconductors, today unveiled the market's highest dynamic range active mixers for mobile radio systems targeted at infrastructure, medical, scientific and industrial applications. These new broad frequency range solutions, which are part of Skyworks' rapidly growing Linear Products' portfolio, have achieved unprecedented linearity performance via a higher level of RF integration which secondarily improves both form factor and cost through the elimination of a negative power supply and additional amplifiers.

"Skyworks' active mixers are the new benchmark for performance in the industry," said Sean Martin, senior director of marketing for Linear Products at Skyworks. "Our solution fundamentally disproves the notion that active mixers cannot achieve the same linearity as passive mixers, surpassing the functionality of any commercially available active mixer on the market today and enabling a broad range of new applications."

About the SKY42068 and SKY42070

The SKY42068, a 400-1000 MHz active mixer focused on CDMA, EDGE, GSM, TETRA, WCDMA, WiMAX and WLL devices, and the SKY42070, a 1700-2200 MHz active mixer aimed at DCS, PCS and UMTS communications, are integrated, high-dynamic range, low-noise receiver down converters. They include a double-balanced active mixer, local oscillator (LO) amplifiers, and dual LO inputs selected by an external switch interface. The LO switch function is managed using an externally controlled complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) compatible interface.

The devices may also be used in applications where frequency hopping is required - particularly in EDGE and GSM. Both devices offer exceptional input 3rd order intercept points (IIP3) and low single side band noise figure (NF). The SKY42068 provides an IIP3 of 36 dBm and a NF of 9.5 dB, and the SKY42070 features an IIP3 of 33 dBm with a NF of 9.0 dB. In addition, both devices offer gain which can potentially reduce the need for additional gain stages.

Both products are offered as lead (Pb) free, restriction of hazardous substances (RoHS) compliant packages.
