Skyworks Supports Samsung's Aggressive Migration to EDGE; Helios(TM) Radio Architecture Leveraged across a Wave of Models Entering the ChannelWOBURN, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 17, 2006--Skyworks Solutions, Inc. (NASDAQ:SWKS), an industry leader in radio solutions and precision analog semiconductors, today announced that it is supporting Samsung's decisive move to EDGE-enabled cellular phones, powering multiple models with its Helios™ EDGE radio. Samsung, a top-tier handset manufacturer, was an early adopter of Skyworks' EDGE solution and has since incorporated the next-generation Helios™ design into its new lineup of mobile devices. Today it is ramping across nearly 20 models, including the SGH-E770 with expandable memory, the SGH-E900 tri-band fashion handset, the ultra-slim SGH-X820 model, and the SGH-S400i slider.

Skyworks' Helios™ RF subsystem is a highly integrated solution which reduces the radio frequency (RF) board space by half when compared to previous other designs, enabling the inclusion of advanced multimedia features such as MP3 players, digital cameras, Web browsing, multimedia messaging services (MMS) and video processing.

"Skyworks is delighted to be supporting Samsung through their aggressive ramp of next-generation EDGE handsets with our Helios™ radio," said Kevin D. Barber, senior vice president and general manager of Mobile Platforms for Skyworks. "Our solution delivers superior RF functionality and an unprecedented level of radio integration, allowing for compact designs and robust performance even under extreme conditions."

Helios™ also eliminates the need for additional factory calibration, offering handset OEMs simplified testing processes and ease with high-volume manufacturing. Other top handset manufacturers who have adopted Skyworks' Helios™-based architectures include LG Electronics and Motorola.
